San Jose Water Company (SJWC) was recognized for its 147-year history of providing exceptional service with its induction into the San Jose/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s (Chamber) Business Hall of Fame at the Chamber’s Annual Membership Luncheon in late March. Entrepreneur and iron foundry owner Donald McKenzie established SJWC in 1866, which at the time consisted of two tanks and served approximately 400 customers in downtown San Jose. Today, SJWC’s 227,000 connections serve nearly one million residents in the greater San Jose metropolitan area. While many things have changed since its founding, SJWC’s steadfast commitment to providing high-quality and reliable water, coupled with exceptional customer service, has remained unchanged.

The Chamber also recently profiled SJWC in the Silicon Valley Business Quarterly, a publication celebrating the region’s business success and entrepreneurial spirit. SJWC’s involvement with the Chamber extends back to 1923, and it continues to be engaged with the Chamber in advocating for job creation, a strong economy and high quality of life.
